Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S5 4G variant in India, which is available for buy in cities with 4G LTE network connectivity. The company has tied up with Airtel to provide buyers 5GB of 4G data/month free for 2 months, as well as offering Rs 10,000 to existing Galaxy S4 users as an upgrade offer. Price

The Samsung Galaxy S5 4G LTE has been launched at price of Rs 53,500, which is Rs 2,000 more than the launch price of the 3G Galaxy S5. The latter however has seen a drastic drop in its price tag is available on Indian e-commerce sites for as low as Rs 37,000.

Hardware

The 3G variant is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5 octa-core SoC (1.9GHz A15 quad-core + 1.3GHz A7 quad-core), while the 4G variant is powered by Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with Adreno 330 GPU. Which is the biggest difference between the two variants.

Apart from that both the variants feature specifications like 5.1-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 16-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,800mAh battery.

The newer variant supports LTE LTE bands – B1 (2,100), B2 (1,900), B3 (1,800), B5 (850), B7 (2,600), B8 (900), B40 (2,300) and B28 (700), and is also Samsung’s first smartphone to feature Wi-Fi with 2×2 MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output), which essentially means that there are two internal Wi-Fi antennas for faster Wi-Fi speeds. The rest of the connectivity options remain the same like Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and IR Blaster.

Software

Samsung doesn’t make changes in softwares as both the variants are running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under Samsung’s new TouchWiz UI.

Extras

The two variants claims IP67 certification, which makes them water and dust resistant. There is also a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button and a heart rate sensor.
